I beg to forward herewith the
1st of Exchange for £63..15..9. payable
in London by the Oriental Bank Corpor
on account of 2 Hhds of pale Sherry
which you shipped for the R.A. R. ##
Mep Hong Kong as mentioned in your
letter of 22nd June 1857.
With reference to the length of time
which has since elapsed I have to explain that about the time the
wine was received at Hong Kong the
Mep was temporarily broken up
and the Members dispersed, on which

account the two Hhds. were put
in Store and have since remained
there. It is still uncertain when
the Mep may be re- established,
probably not until the end of the
War, and I therefore still defer for
some months longer requesting the
favour of a further supply
